Black Tie CBD – Louis XIII OG Review

Black Tie CBD – Louis XIII OG (Flower Review)

Packaging

This was a sample for review and it came in a premium glass jar with clear strain info and a QR code on the bottom. Huge kudos to Black Tie for going the extra mile with the presentation. It makes it feel premium and keeps the flower fresh.

Appearance

The buds are medium to large sized with a very natural shape, and the density sits around a medium level.

The color on the base of the buds is a forest green, but it’s mostly hidden behind a large portion of trichomes that give the bud a silver sheen. The pistils on this one are darker and almost red, which adds some nice contrast.

Trichome coverage is heavy with some large visible mature heads that are turning slightly amber. This is the result of great genetics and great growing technique.

The trim is very clean with little to no sugar leaves. It’s a precise trim that keeps the natural shape of the bud intact.

Cure & Freshness

The moisture level is great. It’s dry enough to get that snap when breaking open a bud but it doesn’t turn to dust in the grinder.

Aroma

The aroma on this one is sweet, doughy, and rich. It lingers on your palate after smelling it for a while. On the backend you can get a hit of gas but it stays more in the background.

It’s a very potent smell and will definitely stink up your whole house just from handling it.

Breaking it down didn’t change the profile much, although the gas opened up a bit more.

Flavor

The flavor leans into that rich cakey sweetness and finishes with a nice subtle gassy note. Not overly complex but a pleasant flavor that I could enjoy anytime.

Burn & Smoke Quality

Burn quality is good with salt and pepper ash and a minimal light oil ring. It burned evenly in a joint.

The smoke itself is very smooth with no mouth coating or throat itching.

Effects

This is one I would use at nighttime. It starts very cerebral and euphoric at first but then quickly shifts heavily into body effects with strong relaxation and sleepiness. This one is heavy. I felt my eyes get heavy, my muscles relax and I was ready for bed not long after that.

Final Thoughts

I would grab this as a nighttime go to and would recommend it to anyone looking for a truly heavy strain in the relaxation department. Its also extremely fresh and is obviously handled with care in the growing and processing stages.
