Purple Panty Dropper - Ashville Dispensary Review

     Purple Panty Dropper

During a recent stop at Asheville Dispensary, I picked up a gram of Purple Panty Dropper (PPD) for around $14. This strain is a heavy-hitting indica, originally bred from Matanuskan Mist, Purple Haze, and Oregon Grape. It's known for its relaxing effects and a terpene profile led by limonene, with strong support from myrcene and caryophyllene—a mix that typically brings uplifting mental effects paired with deep body relaxation.

Out of the jar, PPD has a mild gassy aroma, but nothing too overpowering. Where it really stands out is in the flavor department—the taste comes through much stronger and richer once it’s smoked, offering a deeper experience than the nose might suggest.

Let’s get into the visuals, the flavor, and how it smokes.

    Effects/Terpenes

Purple Panty Dropper (PPD) leans heavily on a limonene-dominant terpene profile, supported by myrcene and caryophyllene. This combination delivers a balanced effect that’s both mentally uplifting and physically relaxing. Limonene is often associated with mood elevation and stress relief, while myrcene may help with muscle relaxation and sedation, and caryophyllene has potential anti-inflammatory properties. Together, they create an experience that’s calming without knocking you out—making this a solid choice for late evening relaxation or winding down without full sedation.

The effects came on smoothly and settled in behind the eyes and across the body, offering a warm, mellow high that lasted for a 2-3 hours without getting too heavy or foggy. It’s a nice strain for movie nights, low-key social hangs, or easing minor physical tension.

    Flavor/Smell

A quick sniff of PPD reveals a mild gassy aroma—nothing too overpowering or distinct out of the jar. However, once lit, the flavor really opens up. The taste is noticeably stronger than the smell, with a deep, almost earthy-gas profile, rounded out by spicy and citrus notes that likely stem from the limonene and caryophyllene combo. It’s smooth on the inhale, and lingers a bit on the exhale, delivering a fuller experience than you might expect from the scent alone.

    Bag Appeal/Price

Visually, PPD delivers. The buds are dense, sticky, and frosty, with subtle purple hues hiding beneath bright orange hairs and vibrant green. Trichome coverage is thick and well developed, and the structure looks hand-trimmed and well-cured. It's clearly a premium product that was produced with purpose and quality.

That said, at $14 per gram, this cut falls on the more expensive side, especially when compared to other high-performing strains in the Chattanooga market. Still, if you're looking to treat yourself with something a bit higher-end, the quality is there to justify the occasional splurge.

    Numeric Review

Cosmetic: 9.5  - This cut of PPD is visually impressive—frosty, sticky, and clearly handled with care. The buds show signs of professional hand-trimming, with dense structure and visible trichomes throughout. The subtle purples beneath vibrant orange hairs add to its premium appearance.

Flavor/Smell: 8.4 - While the jar aroma was underwhelming, especially at this price point, the flavor on the smoke made up for it. The taste delivers a much fuller, richer experience with earthy gas and light citrus spice that wasn’t apparent on the nose.

Effects: 9.0 - The indica-leaning effects hit smoothly and reliably, offering mood elevation without mental fog and a relaxing body high. The limonene, myrcene, and caryophyllene combo gives it some added medicinal potential—ideal for winding down without being completely couch-locked.

Overall Average: 8.95/10
