Sub Zero Review- Top Shelf

     Sub Zero

Sub Zero is an indica-dominant hybrid from Top Shelf Dispensary, priced at a very fair $10 a gram. A cross of Oreoz x Super Boof, this strain stands out right away with its bold bag appeal and a rich terpene profile led by Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene. Expect sweet candy and cherry notes on the nose, with relaxing, mood-lifting effects on the back end. In this review, we’ll break down the taste and smell, dive into the terpene profile and effects, and give a close look at the bag appeal to help you decide if Sub Zero deserves a spot in your stash.

    Effects/Terpenes

Sub Zero brings a rich terpene profile led by Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene, a trio often associated with calming, anti-inflammatory, and mood-elevating effects. For me personally, this strain stood out most for its uplifting quality and its ability to reduce my bouts of nausea related to epilepsy. It created a clean-headed sense of relief without being too sedative, making it versatile for either daytime or early evening use. The effects came on smoothly and built into a comfortable balance of mental clarity and body calm.

Taste & Smell

The aroma on Sub Zero is immediately fruit-forward and sweet, with clear notes of candy and cherry that hit as soon as you crack open the jar. After combustion, the flavor really holds — one of the rare strains where the smoke tastes almost identical to how it smells. It reminded me of certain cuts of Trop Cherry, with that same bright, almost juicy finish. The lingering sweetness makes it a great pick for flavor chasers.

Bag Appeal & Price

From a visual standpoint, this is a showstopper bud. The structure is tight and dense, with excellent trichome coverage and a high-quality trim that shows attention to detail. It’s been cured well, with a slightly tacky texture that breaks up easily. The ash burns clean and white, backing up that the flower was flushed and handled with care. At just $10 a gram from Top Shelf, this strain feels like a steal, especially considering the look, smoke, and effect.

Cosmetic: 9.4/10  - Sub Zero stands out visually with expertly trimmed, dense buds and a frosty coating of trichomes that immediately signals quality. The structure is near-perfect and clearly handled with care from cure to shelf — impressive for any flower, but especially at this price point.

Flavor/Smell: 9.3/10  - Sweet, fruity, and candy-like on both the nose and the palate, this strain delivers a sensory experience that rivals boutique-level cuts. The flavor lingers well after the exhale and closely mirrors the smell, which is rare and worth noting for terpene lovers.

Effects: 9.0  - Offering a smooth, uplifting high that helped ease nausea while keeping me mentally present, Sub Zero’s effects are both functional and therapeutic. It’s a balanced indica-leaning hybrid that suits a range of use cases, from relaxation to symptom relief.

Overall Score 9.2/10
