Tesoro Hemp – Gelato 44 Review
Tesoro Hemp – Gelato 44 (Indoor Flower)
Amount: 3.5g
Grow: Indoor
Tesoro Hemp is new to the page and they sent over a solid lineup, so reviews will be rolling out regularly. First up is Gelato 44.
Appearance
Very large, dense buds right out of the bag. These are not small or airy at all. The nugs are teardrop shaped and very hard, you actually have to pre break them up before grinding.
Color wise, this one reminds me of Halloween. The base of the flower is a deep purple with some greens poking through. On top of that there’s an abundance of bright orange pistils. The pistils aren’t super long, but they’re numerous and really stand out against the purple base.
Trim is top notch in terms of cleanliness. There are no loose sugar leaves hanging off. It does seem like it was machine trimmed because the natural look of the bud has slightly faded. That’s a small gripe, nothing super damning, just something I noticed.
Texture & Cure
This bud is on the drier side. Not overly dry, but the nugs snap very easily and feel crispy.
They’re very dense but low on moisture. Hard structure with a crisp exterior. I personally prefer a little more moisture content because it usually improves flavor and smoothness, but this isn’t in bad shape, just drier than I typically lean toward.
Aroma
First thing that hit my nose was sweet earth.
There’s a sweet, almost bakery like note paired with a grassy earth smell, backed by light gas. It sits right in between loud and subtle. It won’t knock your socks off immediately, but it will definitely stink up your bedroom once it’s out.
Burn & Smoke
Smoked in a joint using Raw Black papers.
Burn quality was good. It burned evenly, produced close to full white ash, and had no crackles from excess moisture. That dry cure definitely helped with combustion.
This is the sweet spot on smoothness for heavy smoke. It’s not harsh and doesn’t tickle your throat in a bad way, but it is dense smoke that gives heavy hits. You feel it.
Flavor translates well from the nose. Creamy and sweet with a little gas on the backend. The earthy note I picked up in the aroma didn’t really come through for me in the flavor.
Effects
I felt a nice tingling sensation behind the eyes before it settled across my whole body. It gives that glazed donut feeling with a glassy look behind the eyes.
This strain helped me relax without making me feel super sedated. I’d call it functional if you have a higher tolerance or if you keep the dose moderate. It leans relaxed but doesn’t force you into the couch.
Overall
The standout here is definitely how large and dense these buds are. They’re chunky with strong bag appeal, especially with that purple and orange contrast.
My only real drawback is the moisture level. I usually like my flower to have a little more life to it, as it tends to improve flavor and smoothness, but overall this still performed well.
I would definitely reach for this again when I’m looking for a classic relaxed vibe.
